Before posting something, READ the changelog, WATCH the videos, howto and provide following:
Your install is: Bare metal, ESXi, what CPU model, RAM, HD, what EVE version you have, output of the uname -a and any other info that might help us faster.

Issues running QEMU nodes on Eve-ng

Post by tilpheck » Tue Mar 21, 2017 3:36 am

Hi,

I've tried to set up both unetlab and eve-ng (preloaded OVAs of unetlab, fresh OVAs of unetlab, fresh OVA of eve-ng), and in most cases IOL and Dynamips images run fine.

The main reason I want to use unetlab/eve-ng is to run QEMU nodes however, because of the up-to-date code/virtual appliances it can boot.

Here is my setup:

CPU: i5 6600k
RAM for eve-ng VM: 10gb
Hypervisor: vmware workstation 12.0.0 build-2985596

I always enable vt-x with each install, and have confirmed my CPU supports it.
I always test with a supported CSR1000v OVA and follow the guide to install it letter-for-letter.

On the last attempt, I received this error when attempting first boot via an SSH session:

/opt/qemu/bin/qemu-system-x86_64 --enable-kvm -serial mon:stdio -nographic -boot order=c,once=d -smp 1 -m 3072 -usb -hda hda.qcow2 -cdrom csr1000v-universalk9.03.13.00.S.154-3.S-ext.iso

(process:12933): GLib-WARNING **: /build/glib2.0-prJhLS/glib2.0-2.48.2/./glib/gmem.c:483: custom memory allocation vtable not supported

I was able to start first boot and install the image to the hda.qcow2 file when I changed the memory level to 2048, of course it took forever but it did complete.

After that I tried booting a CSR1000v with 4gb RAM via the web GUI, but nothing happens, and in some cases eve has actually crashed altogether.

Has anyone had issues like this? If so what did you do to solve?

Thanks

Get this image from cisco, it will neednot even convert, it is ready to go CSR

create folder under
/opt/unetlab/addons/qemu/

csr1000vng-universalk9.16.04.01

place this image from cisco into it, rename image to
virtioa.qcow2

DONE

ready to go,

RAM need 3G
