Cisco IOL image devices switch off when i pause VM

Post by promise123 » Mon Feb 18, 2019 7:45 am

Hardware : CPU - core i5 6th Gen, 20GB RAM, 256GBSSD,
EVE-NG Running on - VM Work Station (15.X)
VT-X - Enabled

i am Running 33 Nodes in my Lab
7x IOS XR 9k (Cisco IOS XR Software, Version 6.0.1, )
26x IOL L3 Adv Enterprise Image (I86BI_LINUX-ADVENTERPRISEK9-M,Version 15.4(2)T4)

I have set 16 GB ram to the VM. everything works well. Devices are running perfect, no issue there.

My problem is that, when im in the middle of a lab, and if i "pause" the VM in VMware workstation, and then when i come back and resume it(the VM), the IOL images will have powered off, but the IOS XR are still powered on and running. so i have to re power on the IOL images once again, and configs done so far will have been lost.

So what might be happening to my IOL images. Why do they shut down when i pause my VM. the IOS XR will still be running when i resume the VM, but IOL will be switched off.

Please help

NEVER EVER use any pause or suspend for EVE VM!
This will end with your eve VM crash and non recoverable state !!!
