Cisco XRv 9000 boots with preconfigured/unknown credentials

Post by surfwax » Sun Oct 13, 2019 5:52 pm

I finally got xrv9k-fullk9-7.0.1 qemu image to boot up in eve-ng, but I don't know what username/password are configured. It never asked me to set the initial credentials, but it boots up to the username prompt anyway. I've tried all the published defaults...cisco/cisco, root/root, lab/lab, virl/VIRL, but to no avail. I'm running the latest version of eve-ng on ESXi 6.7.0U3. I have 32G of baremetal RAM with 20G allocated to the eve-ng VM. My vXR has 16G allocated with 4 vCPUs. I'm currently playing with export-configs to see if I can set the username/password that way, but my vXR 9000 doesn't seem to want to finish booting up when I set it to "export" config (after wiping it).

root@eve-ng:~# uname -a
Linux eve-ng 4.9.40-eve-ng-ukms-2+ #4 SMP Fri Sep 15 02:07:02 CEST 2017 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

I will admit that I Jerry'd my way through building a vXR 9000 image that would boot. I was stuck on the infamous GLibc/-- no boot device error for a long time, so it's possible I did something weird.

Any help is appreciated.

:) you simply won't read how to my dear :)
but collecting images from unknown sources

only proper way to make own image is explained here
https://www.eve-ng.net/documentation/ho ... v9000-full

BTW 20Gb HDD is very very short for eve

Yes, it does work for some (or so I’ve read). But I receive a Glibc error, which is fairly prominent. Without more details IRT your eve-ng, it’s difficult to determine the difference between yours and mine.

FYI, 20G is referring to RAM, not storage. Also, I downloaded my 7.0.1 iso directly from Cisco.com AND followed the eve-ng guide verbatim (3 times).
