Provisioning compute and memory in ESXi host

Post by john871 » Thu May 07, 2026 12:19 am

Hi,

I'm going to be installing EVE-NG as a VM on an ESXi host.

I have 192 gigs of RAM and intel Xeon processors with 12 physical cores

If I'm going to run a lab with the following specs:
vManage: 16 vCPUs, 64GB RAM, 200GB+ disk.
vSmart: 2 vCPUs, 4GB RAM, 40GB disk.
vBond: 2 vCPUs, 4GB RAM, 40GB disk.v
Edge/cEdge: 2 vCPUs, 4GB RAM (per edge device).

should I then create my EVE-NG VM with 24 vCPU's and (say) 96GB ram, so it can run these nodes?

Ideally you need 26 cores and 96GB is fine and don't forget that you should have enough disk space too.
