IP Address DHCP, bridged to wifi

Post by djanm » Sat Jun 13, 2020 11:39 pm

Hi

I am trying to get a usable IP address from my router for Eve NG. I keep getting a 172.n.n.n address that jumps around so I keep having to log in to different IP addresses.

I tried watching some videos and saw that rm -f /opt/ovf/.configured followed by reboot lets me reset the IP address.

I selected DHCP, and then I changed my VM to Bridged, to my wifi connection. However this just stalls.

What settings should I use so that I can access my Server from other PCs on my wireless network? I guess this may be more of a VMWare workstation (player) type question.

Thanks in advance for any help that can be offered and for patience if I have missed something here, a search for IP address returned a lot of results and none looked to address this.

if you have wifi adapter, I do not recommend to use DHCP at all, because when wifi network changes will change you host IP as well, therefore eve IP
Second, not all wifi adapters are supported by VM ware
Best solution with wifi adapter is to use NAT adapter vs bridged
