Hello,
Is it possible to install ESXi from ISO instead of nested image?
The "How to create images" page explains how to install the ESXi nested image only.
I copied the ESXi ISO file to the esxi-7.0 folder and renamed the ISO to cdrom.iso.
It boots up but it does not recognize the virtual hard drive.
The end result is that the VM boots up as cdrom but there´s not any HD to install it.
I tried to create all supported HDD formats in the EVE but none worked.
Thank you,
Leandro

Re: ESXi install using ISO instead of the nested image
Yes, it is possible to install ESXi from an ISO file instead of a nested image. Here are the steps you can follow:
Upload the ESXi ISO file to the EVE-NG server. You canrooftop snipers do this by using the "File Manager" option in EVE-NG.
Create a new virtual machine in EVE-NG and select "ESXi" as the guest operating system.
In the "Hardware" tab of the virtual machine settings, add a CD/DVD drive and select the ESXi ISO file as the source.
Add a virtual hard drive to the virtual machine. Make sure to select a compatible virtual disk format that is supported by ESXi.
Power on the virtual machine and boot from the ESXi ISO file.
Follow the ESXi installation wizard and select the virtual hard drive as the installation destination.
Complete the installation process as you would with a physical ESXi host.
Hope it helps!
